Ocean Export Supervisor
Ref: 2759
Location: Basildon
Salary: £35k+ (depending on experience)
I am looking for a person to lead a team between 5-7 people. They must have excellent knowledge of shipping and I’d like at least 10 years experience. The role will oversee the day to day running of the export department to USA, Australia and ad-hoc services. Someone with experience of a shared mailbox and understand the complications that can bring would be beneficial. A person who is adaptable to a new way of working. We do not work the same way as a normal shipper / forwarder and although experienced, isn’t afraid to ask questions. We do not judge, in fact we encourage questions. There is a lot to learn. The characters we have in the department are a mixed bunch and finding that right person who knows how to have a good balance between good cop bad copy is vital. For me though, experience is key and someone that can jump into a situation if a member of staff is sick, on holiday or just knows how to roll their sleeves up to help a fellow member of the team. Experience in P&L costings is important as well but someone looking to take more responsibility will have this experience, I’m sure.
